A historic boutique founded in 1898 in Paris

Founded at the end of the 19th century by Mr. René Ducoup, one of the many Auvergnats who came to Paris to establish new businesses.
The Auvergnats (people from Auvergne, a rural region in central France) became notably prominent in Paris from the 18th to 20th centuries due to a combination of economic, social, and historical factors.
Over time, many of them transitioned into running cafés, bistros, and brasseries, which became central to Parisian social life.

Early precursor to the modern select shop

At the time, the boutique was the equivalent of a modern select shop.
The ‘épicerie’ section offered everyday essentials such as dry goods, soap, and cosmetics. The ‘mercerie’ section featured haberdashery items like buttons and thread, while the ‘rouennerie’ section specialized in household textiles, including printed fabrics, aprons, and bags.

Heritage

The original boutique was destroyed during World War, marking the end of an era—but not the spirit of the brand.

Today, the brand is proudly located on the prestigious Île Saint-Louis, in the heart of Paris.
